J. V. Updike Donations (1876)

Donations.

The following persons have showed their kindness to myself and family by giving to us such things as were thankfully received.

1st. Bro. Joseph Fernbaugh and friends at the Indian Mills school house made up and gave to the writer a donation amounting to some $26.

2nd. Bro. George Fernbaugh and friends at Rock Run bethel gave us a present of some beautiful blankets amounting to over $7.

3rd. Sister Mary Jones gave me a beautiful scarf.

4th. Bro. Wm. Lowery got up money and sent the writer the Phrenological Journal, which I like very much. Thanks to all.

J. V. UPDIKE.

We return our thanks to the brethren, sisters and friends of South Riga, O., for a donation consisting of eighteen dollars for a suit of clothes, in which Bro. Freeman was the main mover; also $4 80 for a dress pattern, in which Sister Albring took the lead; also cash and useful articles amounting for $31.80. It gives us pleasure to know that our labors are thus appreciated.
