BRO. FORNEY: After five weeks hard work in Upper Sandusky, we closed on December 12. There were strong prejudices and influences against the work from sources that ought to have contributed to its support. I pray God to forgive this wrong. Knowing that we had the approving smiles of God upon us we feared not all that could be against us. We went to work in earnest, fasted frequently, and "prayed without ceasing." Made about one hundred and forty visits, prayed with and admonished the people from house to house. Never in my life have I felt such a constant nearness of Christ. My soul has been greatly refreshed, thank God. I feel [2] prepared for greater usefulness than in the past. Dear brethren in the ministry, we should often fast and spend whole hours in prayer to God, and not give up until we are blessed and re-baptized with the Holy Ghost.
The meeting resulted in the conversion of about thirty-five souls. I immersed eight, who were powerfully blessed and came up shouting and clapping their hands for joy. The Holy Spirit rested on the whole congregation, and some with tears promised to obey God the first opportunity.
The small Church of God that was formed here one year and a half ago has increased to about forty members. It is a pity the meeting could not have been continued longer, as it closed in the midst of a good interest, some seeking the Lord. The converts are in general strong and active. Three prayer meetings and a Bible class are being held every week. The bethel is owned altogether by Father L. W. Keller. There has been no revival in the place since the one in that house two years ago. Sects are doing nothing, some nearly dying out.
December 26, the Lord willing, we will immerse and observe the ordinances.
All Church of God preachers are invited to stop and preach for the church whenever they can.
I return thanks to Elder Bradford, of the Free Methodist Church, and Rev. Graham, pastor of the M. E. Church in Upper Sandusky, for their assistance during the meeting; and the kind people of the place for their co-operation and a donation of $10. God bless you.
