West Ohio Standing Committee
Meeting.


      In compliance with the call of the chairman, the following members of the committee met at the Brick Bethel near Reedsburg, Ashland county, Ohio; Elders J. W. Aukerman, James Neil and T. Koogle; Elders Steiner and Kline being absent. After devotional exercises conducted by Elder Neil, the committee was constituted by electing Elder G. T. Kimmel and Brother George Mitchell to fill the vacancies occasioned by the absent members. The following items of business were then transacted:

      1. Elder James Neil tendered his resignation of the Smithville circuit on account of affliction in his family.
      On motion, his resignation was accepted.

      2. On motion, that Elder D. S. Warner supply Mansfield mission for the present in connection with his field of labor.

      3. That Elder D. Sands, of the Paulding mission, and Elder Aaron M'Nutt, of the Toledo mission, each receive twenty-five dollars out of the Missionary funds.

      4. That, whereas the Stationing Committee of the W. O. E. overlooked the Skates' appointment, therefore, on motion of the committee, that Elder G. Poling serve said appointment.

      5. That each of the two circuits that constituted the Seneca circuit be required to raise eight dollars and fifty cents Superannuated and Eldership fund the present year.

      6. That each preacher in charge of a circuit or station be requested to collect back interest on missionary notes and forward it to the treasurer as soon as possible.

      And whereas, We have a number of missionaries in the field and have but a limited amount of funds on hand to sustain them; therefore
      Resolved, That each preacher in charge of a circuit or station take up public collections for the mission cause in Ohio, and forward to the treasurer within six months.

      7. That the circuits in Eastern Ohio raise the amount of money here assigned them as an Eldership and Superannuated fund.

Copley, 6 00
Lower Sugar Creek, 6 00
Stark, 15 00

      Relative to the difficulties that have existed at the Brick, the following preamble and resolutions were adopted by the parties:
      WHEREAS, Said difficulties were of such a nature that the East Ohio Eldership and its standing committee denounced a portion of the members refractory and proceeded to reconstruct the church with those whom they considered loyal;
      And whereas, The refractory part claimed the church property;
      And whereas, There are litigations and costs thereon;
      And whereas, There have been measures taken for a reconciliation of the parties; therefore
      Resolved, That we, the parties above referred to, here mutually agree to reconstruct on the following terms:
      1. That the parties that were on the defense in the litigation pay all the costs.
      2. WHEREAS, Exceptions were taken to one person of each party; therefore,
      Resolved, That said exceptionable parties withdraw peaceably. Also, that the reconstruction do not recognize H. T. Grindle and C. R. Jennings as members of the body.
      3. Resolved, That Brothers Peter Barclay and Benjamin Funk remain in the ruling eldership relation until the reconstruction shall be completed by "the election of church officers."

      On motion, we adjourn to meet at the call of the chairman.
