SOLOMON, son of David, born B. C. 1033, at Jerusalem; anointed by Zedok and Nathan B. C. 1016; formally proclaimed king B. C. 1015; began the building of the Temple B. C. 1012; completed and dedicated the Temple B. C. 1004; and died B. C. 975, after ruling about forty years.
