Charles Leach Our Bible: How We Got It (1898) |
PREFACE.
HAVE written this book for my own pleasure and profit; and now publish it, hoping to give pleasure and profit to others.
In its preparation I have made use of such material as I thought suitable, wherever I found it, and I desire to acknowledge most fully my indebtedness to a large number of able writers whose works I have been able to consult. Among them I desire to mention Dr. Westcott, Dr. R. W. Dale, Dr. Newth, Dr. J. P. Smyth, Thomas Cooper, Dr. Tischendorf, "Smith's Bible Dictionary," and many others.
Should any of the multitude of busy people who love the Bible obtain help from the following pages, no one will rejoice more than the busy man who has written them.
