FROM
THE
MILLENNIAL HARBINGER.
DEVOTED TO PRIMITIVE CHRISTIANITY.
VOL. 39.] | BETHANY, W. V., MAY, 1868. | [NO. 5. |
When with my books I'm reading
A mother's voice is pleading In earnest, fervent prayer,-- And sisters' too are there,-- The old familiar voices. Some look, or word that's spoken, A tear, or some love-token,-- The smile, or tone of others Are echoes of a brother's,-- The old familiar voices. In unfrequented places I see their cheerful faces; They come when I'm not thinking, The past and present linking The old familiar voices. The loved ones may be taken, And I by all forsaken, But we can part, no never, You're with me now and ever,-- The old familiar voices. The friends my heart embraces But bring me back the graces Of those who've gone before, Safe to the better shore,-- The old familiar voices. |
