J. W. McGarvey A Treatise on the Eldership (1870) |
ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC EDITION.
According to Claude E. Spencer's An Author Catalog of Disciples of Christ and Related Religious Groups (Canton, MO: Disciples of Christ Historical Society, 1946, p. 210) J. W. McGarvey's The Eldership was first published in Cincinnati, OH, by Bosworth; no date is given. Because no copy of this first edition has been located in public or university library catalogs, the electronic edition of J. W. McGarvey's A Treatise on the Eldership has been produced from a 1962 reprint of the book issued in 1950 by DeHoff Publications, Murfreesboro, TN. This reprint also includes a foreword by George DeHoff and a biographical essay by L. L. Brigance, neither of which has been reproduced for the electronic edition.
Pagination in the electronic version has been represented by placing the page number in brackets following the last complete word on the printed page. Inconsistencies in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and typography have been retained; however, corrections for misspellings and other accidental corruptions have been offered. Emendations are as follows:
