Biographical Sketch of Thomas Carlin

Born: Near Frankfort, Kentucky, 1789.
Died: Illinois, 1852.

Came to Illinois in 1812, settling near Carrollton. He was twice elected to the State Senate. Commanded a battalion in the Black Hawk War. Was elected Governor of the State in 1848, serving four years. Historians say he was one of the best Governors the State ever had. Mr. Carlin was a member of the church of Christ in Quincy.
