Member of Winchester Church. Member of the Constitutional
Convention of 1847, of State Legislature in 1850, and paymaster in the
Federal Army in the sixties. Retired with rank of lieutenant-colonel.
Mr. Knapp was a man full of vigor and action and exerted a wide
influence.
