Biographical Sketch of Thomas B. Stanley

Text from Haynes, Nathaniel S. History of the Disciples of Christ in Illinois 1819-1914, Cincinnati: Standard Publishing Company, 1915. Page 607. This online edition © 1997, James L. McMillan.

Born: Carroll County, Illinois, 1851.
Died: Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 1912.

In early life, Mr. Stanley dedicated his life to Christ. Besides his home and his congregation, he was trained in the public schools and at Eureka College. He was actively engaged in the ministry until failing health interfered. Then his aim was to constantly serve others as he was able. He worked with the congregations at Coleta, Normal, Atlanta and elsewhere. His ideals were high, his life's aim single and his fidelity to God's word unquestioned.
