Grew up on the farm. Received his mental training in the public schools, in Normal School at Kokomo and the Seminary at Peru. Taught school for several years. Entered ministry in 1873. He was a gospel preacher of the best type. A successful evangelist, pastor, public debater and church-builder. He was interested in the cause of Christ at home and abroad, and always co-operated in every good work.
