EV. JESSE SEWELL attended the North Carolina and Virginia Conference at Union in Halifax county, Virginia, in 1842. He had been licensed to preach, and was also ordained, since he was received at the Conference this year as an Elder. It is not stated from what denomination he came. In 1845, he was present at the Conference at Apple's chapel, in Guilford county, and took part in the deliberations; he was appointed a fraternal messenger to attend the "approaching session of the Freewill Baptist Conference."
