REV. D. M. WILLIAMS.

R EV. D. M. WILLIAMS was born in Franklin county, North Carolina, February 14, 1867, and died at Elon College, May 20, 1892.

He was received into the Biblical class, and attended school at Graham, North Carolina. When Elon College opened in 1890, he was one of the first students to enter its walls. He was a model young man, and was highly esteemed by his fellow students.

In 1891, he assisted Rev. J. W. Fonville in a meeting at Mt. Zion in Orange county. He had just entered upon the work, and at the time of his death he was serving [394] Liberty church, in Randolph county, as pastor. In addition to doing ministerial work, he was carrying a course of study in Elon College, and his friends and acquaintances were expecting much from a life so full of promise to the Church.

At the North Carolina and Virginia Conference held at Wake chapel, in 1892, the committee on Memoirs reported as follows: "That in the death of Bro. D. M. Williams who was cut down in the morning of life when there seemed to open up before him such a useful career, and whose greatest desire was to be a preacher of the gospel, we have sustained a great loss."
