and in reverent memory of
the early pioneers of our faith recorded here,
and of countless successors who have toiled at churchly tasks
with unflagging faithfulness,
for the glory of Christ and the ongoing of His cause,
this book is Dedicated.
Humanly they wrought, yet with prophetic vision
of a far-off day, when, as living stones
growing into a habitation for God through the Spirit,
they might exhibit to a divided Church of Christ
the divine unity of a world Brotherhood--
at last testifying to the 'oneness' of all His followers--
that for which he prayed and strove--
and which once sufficed the Master
as he shared our human ways.
