Few people were neutral about R. H. Boll (1875-1956). Many people thought he
was a false teacher and an evil divider of the church. Yet others hailed him as a great man
of God and a superlative preacher and teacher of the Bible.

Which was he, and why did opinions about him differ so extremely? And why,
more than 40 years after his death, is he receiving lots of fresh attention:

**Richard Hughes’ Reviving the Ancient Faith devotes over
9 pages to Boll and "the premillennial movement."

**6 papers about Boll were presented at the 1998 Christian
Scholars Conference held at Pepperdine.

This new book is adapted from Tom Bradshaw’s Master’s thesis at Emmanuel School of Religion. It is the only book-length treatment of Boll written thus far. It surveys Boll’s life, ministries and impact. It explains his various controversies and accomplishments. Two chapters are made up almost entirely of Boll’s own teachings regarding many different topics--quotations from his writings.

The book is paperback. It is more for general readers than for scholars, though they too may derive much benefit from it. To minimize the book’s size and cost, we omitted its 253 endnotes (though their numbers are included!) and the author’s bibliographies of sources consulted and cited. Separately we have xeroxed copies of the notes and the author’s bibliographies (a total of 17 pages). Those who desire them may order them from the publisher. If ordered at the same time as the book, the charge is only an additional $0.50; if ordered later, $1.00, due to postage.
