THIS, dear reader, is the last number, of the last volume of the 4th series of the Millennial Harbinger. Throughout the long period of twenty-eight years I have enjoyed the privilege of addressing its readers in relation to the things of the kingdom of God, and I can most sincerely say that it has ever been my aim to promote the interests of the cause of truth. From the first vol. of the Harbinger, published in 1830; in which, under the signature of Discipulus, I first exhibited that Scripture view of regeneration since universally adopted in the reformation, down through the succeeding volumes and series of volumes to the present year, I have treated a great variety of topics, have written many articles for its pages, and have established the most agreeable relations with its numerous friends. It is, therefore, natural that I should feel regret in being now compelled, (other labors demanding my attention,) to close my connection with it, and to sever those relations with its readers, which have, by association, become so dear to me, and by habit, so familiar. I rejoice, however, that Bro. Campbell, with a courage and energy unimpaired by years, and with able assistance, though "himself a host," is willing still to continue the publication of the Harbinger, and, I trust, that the brethren will nobly sustain him in the work by such an increased subscription as will indicate their appreciation of his untiring perseverance and devotion in the cause. With the kindest feelings, then, for all concerned, and trusting that the mantle of Christian charity will be sufficient to cover the defects which have doubtless attended my feeble efforts, I bid adieu to the readers of the Harbinger with the most earnest prayer for their present and future happiness.
R. RICHARDSON.
