SOME EPITAPHS
Here lies -- a valiant Methodist,
- He fell into a stew,
On reading how the eunuch,
- Acts 8, "went down into."
He thought the sacred writer,
- Had surely made a slip,
To put him in the water,
- Unless he wished to dip!
And when he read, "We are buried"
- (In bap.) in Romans 6,
It upset his good spirit,
- And left him in a fix!
He wrestled with the puzzle,
- Through all his earthly span,
How thirteen drops can bury
- A hefty six-foot man!
He could not solve the problem,
- No matter how he tried,
And so he came kerflunker,
- And fell from grace -- and died!
- ----o----
Here lies -- a doughty Baptist,
- As stiff as e'er was seen,
He wrecked his constitution
- On Mark 16 --- 16!
And also, in addition,
- He addled his poor pate,
In trying to make solution
- Of Acts 2--38!
