This is an ancient story,
A celebrated preacher,
He was a Presbyterian,
The text that caused his trouble,
He figured and he triggered,
"It is a high-wrought figure,
"Dead to the world and buried,
"I sprinkle holy water
True, Barnes and Schaff and Chalmers,
Said 'bury' here means 'bury,'
But this great reverend doctor,
Said bury meant to sprinkle
He closed his wondrous sermon,
He thought, "What great sensation
He told his little Johnny
John took the defunct goosey,
"Now, this poor, luckless goosey
He took up dust, a spoonful,
"Now, goosey, you are buried,
The preacher soon discovered
He called up little Johnny,
"You are the meanest urchin
"Why, dad, the goose is buried,
"To bury means to sprinkle,
