A Doctor Reports

[Page 11]
"The Christian church has drifted into extreme liberalism, while the church of Christ has gone radical. One is more apprehensive over pleasing or displeasing the denominational world, while the other seems to love a fight more than to reconcile people to the original teaching of the New Testament. The one impresses no one, while the other evokes resentment and repels more people than they convert or convince. I hear nothing any more from either that has the tone of McGarvey, Lipscomb, Elam, and what we read from the Campbells, Stone and Scott. Why either cater to, or offend? Why not just appeal by 'reasoning of righteousness?' You never hear doctrines preached in the Christian church, while the church of Christ goes to extremes with it." --H. H. Puryear, M.D., in Christian Standard.
