Roy Loney writes that a preacher in another state where there are many congregations, has notified him that ninety per cent of the brethren in that state are with him in his opposition to our plea for restoration, and that he is greatly encouraged by this poll of sentiment. Mabery became a member at Bonne Terre (Mo.) in June 1910, transferring from Flat River. On May 12, 1916 he was ordained as elder, a post which he resigned on Oct. 12, having served more than 42 years. On Friday, October 24, more than 50 persons gathered for a luncheon in his honor. On Oct.26, his wife suffered a paralytic stroke, and is now hospitalized. They had just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.... Gerald Hadley is forced to leave Galesburg (Ill.) because of a congenital heart condition of his little daughter, Vickie, who must have treatment at the Vanderbilt University Heart Clinic, in Nashville, Tennessee. Gerald had studies with 35 people, and 51 enrolled in home correspondence courses at Galesburg.... Darrell Bolin was released from the hospital on October 30, to continue treatment under medication.... Ellis Crum went to Windsor, Ontario, October 29 for a few days of labor. He reports 2 more added by membership transfer at Kendallville (Ind.) and is looking forward to the Thanksgiving Holiday studies at Hagerstown (Ind.).... Sister L. E. Ketcherside, 306 North Main, Farmington (Mo.) has asked us to thank all of you who so graciously sent cards of condolence and sympathy when you learned of the death of her husband.... The Christian Standard reproduced our article on "The Party Spirit" in their issue of November 8.... Leroy Garrett, Sam Retzer, Bob Campbell and Elliott Williams, conducted a one week meeting, six miles east of Versailles, Illinois, Oct. 19 - 24.... Albert Winstanley spoke at Newtongrange (Scotland) at their annual social, Oct.18, and on the Lord's Day following.... Barbara Tessereau, Route 2, Farmington, Missouri, writes that she and Franklin Marlowe, of Dallas, Texas, will collaborate in editing and publishing a paper to be called "The Christian Youth," which will deal with problems and activities of Christian young people. The paper which will start in January, will be issued monthly, and the subscription rate is $1.00 per year. Robert Brumback was forced to close his meeting at Green Mound (Kansas) and return home due to pain about his heart.... Jim Mabery and Ray Duffey report sixteen added in the series of meetings at Unionville (Mo.).... Two were immersed and two placed membership at Kirksville (Mo.) during the meeting conducted by Bro. C. R. Turner.... A meeting of great interest will be held at Hartford (Ill.) on Saturday, January 17, when the subject "Rules of Biblical Interpretation" will be discussed by Leroy Garrett and W. Carl Ketcherside. The study will start at 9:30 a. m.... The same two men will join in conducting a study of five nights duration at Dallas (Texas) starting December 27. Bernie Crum immersed one at Brookport (Ill.) Nov. 9.... Lloyd Thompson immersed one at Manchester Avenue (St. Louis) Nov.12.
