A Statement of Fact

[Page 14]
Under the above heading, appears an article in the March issue of American Christian Review, written by the editor of MISSION MESSENGER. In it, I point out how I was reared in a factional atmosphere, and regarded the Kingdom of heaven as bounded by the partisan lines we had drawn about us. In such a condition, papers and articles were made tests of fellowship, and those who did not conform to party policies were excluded. As an illustration I mention the article printed by the editors of American Christian Review, in 1932, under the designation of "a rough draft" on unity, and show how we were guilty of convening a meeting in a central location (Kansas City, Missouri) for the purpose of formulating "brotherhood policy" with reference to the position enunciated in that article, and the brethren who subscribed to that position. I am convinced that any such meeting is wholly out of line with the scriptures of the new covenant, and I am genuinely ashamed of the fact that I participated in such a party spirit as was manifested. I feel that you should read my full statement, and ask you to send for a copy of the paper containing it. The address of American Christian Review is Box 23102, Indianapolis, Indiana. A copy of the March issue will be sent you free upon request.
