     So long as the "one man system" is regarded as the beau ideal, as it is by many, of what should obtain in our congregations, it will be impossible to bring them back to the practice of the ancient order of things. And in view of its entire want of Scriptural authority, and the manifest evils it has entailed on the church, we cannot but express our surprise that any lover of truth, particularly any friend to the customs of the church, should give this system the least countenance whatsoever. --Millennial Harbinger (1854).
