Where is our respect for man? Have we forgotten that he is made in the
image of God, with a mind, conscience, and soul? Where is our system of values, when to
sacrifice a few persons for material gain is a small thing? Have we forgotten that a man's soul is
the most valuable thing in the world? Why is it that we love things and use people, rather than
love people and use things? --Myron S. Augsburger in "Called to Maturity."
The reaction to the first article in our new series, which was published
last month, has been varied. Comments run all the way from those of one preaching brother who
says my reasoning is warped and I am writing sheer nonsense, to those of another preaching
brother who declares that divine providence has caused these things to be written in answer to
the prayers of hundreds of saints ensnared in sectarian bonds. Actually these articles are a very
feeble and humble attempt to face up realistically to a serious problem which confronts us, and
which has too long been evaded. We are glad that both of the brethren who wrote their varied
opinions read the paper, and trust that they continue to do so. It is not necessary that you see all
things as we do for us to love you and respect you as brethren. For the benefit of those who want
their friends to share in what is being offered we mention that if you send in a subscription for
them at once we will send them the March issue so they may begin at the very inception of the
current series on spiritual adventure.
