It has been said that one who is not interested in the history of his country
will not accomplish anything for future historians to record. This is but another way of saying
that our life gains relevance only in the light of those circumstances which made us what we are.
We have been told that our brethren are not concerned about the history of the restoration
movement, and that they will not be interested in lengthy quotes such as appear in our lead
article this month. Since this is the first of a series leading to the study of the rise of factionalism
among us, it would be greatly appreciated if you would send us a card or letter stating your
personal feeling about such articles dealing with the history of the restoration attempt to ''unite
the Christians in all sects" as Alexander Campbell stated it. The second in this series "Roots of
Restoration" will appear next month, and after that we shall seek to analyze those factors which
have acted to divide us with such ease and frequency. But please let us hear from you this month
and be assured your letters will be appreciated.
You can still obtain copies of the special July issue on "Analysis of
Heresy" at the rate of ten for one dollar. We urge you to send for these and share them with
others.
