Our April Issue
Your next paper will be interesting indeed although not too comforting.
It will trace for you the growing spirit of factionalism and division among those who rejected the
use of instrumental music in the corporate worship. Having adopted the philosophy of
maintaining purity by destroying the family relationship, as new problems arose new divisions
occurred. We will list for you a few of the things which were adjudicated without separation,
then show you how the brethren divided over colleges, order of worship, Bible classes,
individual cups, etc. You will see how the traditional position of the second generation of
reformers was handed over to their children, and how the noble movement to unite the believers
was cut and slashed to pieces by maintaining the theory of unity by conformity instead of
community. This will present a sad picture but it will be only the forerunner of the primary
article for May which will be entitled "The Decline of Factionalism." In it we will show that
there is greater hope now for unity and fellowship than for more than a century. If you wish
additional copies of this paper or of the one for February you may secure them at the rate of ten
for one dollar.
