We especially commend the article by Thomas Langford on "The Leading Spirit."... The Word and Work, published at 2518 Portland Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky, carried the program of Louisville Christian Fellowship Week, in which the theme was "The Holy Spirit, Revealer of Jesus Christ."... Howard Short has been designated as an observer at the Ecumenical Council in Rome. Bro. Short is editor of The Christian.... We appreciate the short article "No Optional Tags" by Robert W. Lawrence, in Firm Foundation, issue of July 21.... Truth Magazine, Box 7245, Akron 6, Ohio 44306, has been carrying two reviews of the booklet by Batsell Barrett Baxter, on "Questions and Issues of the Day." The opposing views are presented by James P. Needham and Reuel Lemmons (a reprint).... The speech by the editor as made to the North American Christian Convention was reproduced in Christian Standard.... W. Carl Ketcherside will speak four times for the congregation meeting at the corner of College and Lexington Streets, Richmond, Mo., September 19, 20. The Saturday evening message (7:30 o'clock) will be entitled, "How Did We Get This Way?" The talks on Sunday will be on the topics: "Who Is My Brother?"; "Shall We Divide or Multiply?"; "Solving Problems in Long Division..... It has been tentatively decided that the next conference on internal unity in the Christian Churches will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, next March 1, 2.... At the close of this year, all of the copies of MISSION MESSENGER for 1964 will be bound in book form under the title "The Brotherhood of Faith." It will come from the press on March 1, 1965.... M. S. Whitehead, 211 Park Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36110, has an article in his Restoration Plea, for July, 1964, which you ought to read. It is entitled, "Unity of the Spirit" and a copy will he sent to you upon request. We urge you to read this voice from the "deep South" on the matter of fellowship.... Bernie Crum reports one immersed and four added by membership transfer at Flat River, Missouri.... Dick and Marge Scruggs have

moved to Outlook, Saskatchewan, and will be a tremendous help to this fine Canadian congregation.... There were approximately 120 persons in attendance at the camp held near Macrorie, Saskatchewan, with 102 present the first evening. Teachers were Dick Scruggs, Cecil Bailey, Jim Williams, and W. Carl Ketcherside. Alan Smith delivered one of the evening addresses and Paul Tromburg supervised the arrangements.... We regret to report that our brother, J. D. Phillips, Austin, Texas, fell on July 1, and broke his hip. He will be on crutches for many months. Brother Phillips is editor of The Truth, a monthly magazine of excellent reputation.... Darrell Bolin, 134 Susquehanna Avenue, Lock Haven, Pennsylvania 17745, features articles entitled "The Voice of Wisdom" and "The Ladder to Happiness" in 20th Century Restoration which he publishes.... Edsil Dale has accepted a position as professor of history at Central College of the Bible, Moberly, Missouri.... Edward P. Benoit, Nanton, Alberta, Canada, has an article in his paper The Christian Compass, for August, entitled "As a Man Soweth" which is worth pondering by every one of us. Brother Benoit is now serving as a member of the parliament in Alberta.... Wilford Landes, Kenneth Van Deusen, Richard Riggins, Winford Lee, Jerry Reece and Clifford Deister, were teachers in a special study held at the Hickman Mills church, near Kansas City, Missouri, August 2-14.... Gene Shelburne, Phoenix, Arizona, is now managing editor of The Christian Appeal, having succeeded C. R. Worsham. If you have not seen a copy of this colorful little journal we suggest you write for a sample copy to Thomas Langford, 3213 Odessa, Fort Worth, Texas 76109. Brother Langford is Business and Circulation Manager.... Christianity Today carried a lengthy write-up of the North American Christian Convention which was held in Saint Louis. The article was titled "Restructure or Restoration" and mentioned a "stirring toward fellowship"..... We regret to report the death of our aged brother, Ben J. Elston, DeRidder, Louisiana, at the age of 97 years. This brother began preaching in 1890 and baptized more than 1000 persons in his first thirty years of public proclamation. He studied at Lexington, Kentucky, as a young man, under J. W. McGarvey and I. B. Grubbs.... Two men were immersed at the close of the meeting held by Jack Kinser at Valdosta, Georgia.... Wilton Painter of Middletown, Indiana, and Barbara Thompson, of Potosi, Missouri, were united in marriage at Arlington, Virginia, August 6. They were attended by Brother and Sister E. L. Keesling.... We deeply regret to chronicle the death of Brother Ira Fairman, Springfield, Missouri; and of Sister Wilma Summers, Summersville, Missouri.... Bro. W. L. Brown writes that his meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, was proceeding with good interest. He and Sister Brown were scheduled to go to Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia, on August 4.... The congregation meeting at Oak Hill Chapel will have a homecoming for former members on October 4.... Burl Price, Shelbyville, Illinois, will work with the congregation at 1000 East Gordon Street, Valdosta, Georgia, starting September 30.... M. F. Cottrell is scheduled for a three day series at Minorsville, Kentucky, in September.... Charles A. Holt has announced cessation of his publication called "Sound Doctrine" which was issued from Wichita Falls, Texas. He is moving to Lufkin, Texas, to work with Timberline Drive congregation, and his address will be 109 Parker Drive.... Our Brother in Christ, James L. Lovell, in his paper Action, invites us to "draw me a picture of what it takes for a sincere baptized believer to be out of fellowship." We will accept the invitation extended by our gracious brother.
