All of the issues of MISSION MESSENGER for 1964 will be gathered into book form at the close of the year and bound in cloth under the title, "The Brotherhood of Faith." The new volume will he ready on March 1, 1965.... Dean Walker, Edwin Hayden, Robert Burns, Jess Johnson, James De Forest Murch and W. Carl Ketcherside, were the morning speakers in a special convocation at Milligan College, Aug. 17-21. Robert Fife led a daily session in "An Analysis of Hope" and other brethren conducted a devotional at the close of day. More than 200 were registered for the week.... We regret to chronicle the death of Otto Pohle, Bundaberg, Australia, June 29.... Leroy Garrett writes that the subscription list of Restoration Review has more than doubled during the first part of 1964.... M. S. Whitehead, 211 Park Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36110, examines the practice of public confession of sins as practiced among congregations today, and what he has to say in Restoration Plea for August, 1964, will prove to be very interesting, and a little disconcerting to some of the brethren who respect tradition above that which is written. Brother Whitehead will send you a copy of his treatise upon request.... If you have not yet contacted Wayne Poucher about the probability of sponsoring his new series of radio talks entitled "The Wondrous Story" we trust you will do so at once. Here is an opportunity for you to make available to friends in your area and over your local station an excellent presentation. Write to Wayne at Box 310, McLean, Virginia.... Boyce Mouton has resigned his local work in a congregation with elders to enter the field of evangelistic labors, and has already scheduled meetings in California, Oregon and Washington. He says, "My motives will not be to pop balloons or pass out decision cards, but to fan the flames of reform." He will do it, too! You can write him at 1548 Curtner Avenue, San Jose 25, California.... Our hearts are saddened by the death of Kenneth Kohr, Overland, Missouri. This young brother, who was a brilliant high school science teacher died at the age of 34, as a result of lung cancer.... Bernie Crum immersed two during the fiftieth anniversary meeting at Canalou, Missouri, and reports two added by membership transfer at Flat River recently.... Alton and Wanda Pace, Riverside, California, have a son, Curtis Allen, born August 6.... We are arranging special discussion sessions in the Sacramento, California, area, on the subject of fellowship, on the afternoons of October 29, 30, 31, and on the mornings of October 30, 31. It will be my privilege to speak each night from October 29 through November 1, with all meetings being held at Town and Country Church of Christ, 4837 Marconi Avenue, Carmichael, California. Lodging will be provided on Thursday and Friday nights, if you will write Wayne Thomas at the address given.... The editor will also conduct morning, afternoon and night discussions on the theme of fellowship and unity at San Jose, California, Monday, November 2, with invitations to all seekers after truth to attend.... It has been arranged for the editor to address the Arizona State Christian Convention at Phoenix, October 14-16, and an invitation has been issued to brethren in all segments of the restoration movement to hear the speeches.... Approximately 75 persons were in attendance at the Western Buckeye Fellowship meeting held on August 29, at Belle Center, Ohio. by Isaac Errett.... The congregation meeting at Oak Hill Chapel held a homecoming service on October 4, with many of the former members in attendance for the day.... Congregations desiring to secure the services of Vernon W. Hurst for special teaching and lectures should address him at 6009 Avalon Road NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87105.... Bob Duncan concluded a series of meetings with brethren at Oblong, Illinois, on the night of September 4.... Frank S. Graham reports the fellowship meetings held at Louisville, Kentucky, and Sellersburg, Indiana, were very inspirational and challenging, and held on a high plane of spiritual interest.... We appreciate the commendation of Martin M. Mitchum, Rolla, Missouri, as to the September issue of MISSION MESSENGER. Martin thinks we are too optimistic in our forecast as to the growing hope of unity within the restoration movement. We realize there is tremendous opposition to be overcome, but the Spirit of God can change the picture overnight, and the future looks the brightest that it has in more than a century since we started to divide. Brethren in all segments of the movement are being encouraged to think unity and they are doing that very thing.... The Lillian Avenue congregation in Saint Louis, Missouri, held a special homecoming service for former members on September 20.... It was our privilege recently to hear Myron S. Augsburger, president of Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, Virginia. His recent book "Invitation to Discipleship" which deals with the message of evangelism in an excellent treatise. Other books of his which we have read with profit are "Called to Maturity" and "Quench Not the Spirit."... Another interesting volume which we have recently read is titled, "The Validity of the Virgin Birth." It was wrirten by Howard A. Hanke, who is a Methodist, and a Professor of Bible at Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky.... While talking about volumes that we have read with interest and concern, we should mention the new book by William Barclay called "Turning to God: A Study of Conversion in the Book of Acts and Today." You may be interested in the fact that he affirms that baptism was always adult baptism; it was not by sprinkling, but by immersion; and the experience of the forgiveness of sins is consistently connected with repentance and with baptism.... Then there is the book called "Speaking in Tongues" written by H. J. Stolee, a Lutheran writer of no mean ability. His approach is somewhat different than you generally see and we read his volume with a great deal of interest. We wish that we had space to give you our own marked gleanings from all of the books that we read each month, but that is not possible in a journal with such limited facilities.... Have you ever thought of sending in a list of names for subscriptions to MISSION MESSENGER? If you feel a sense of responsibility toward sharing the messages contained in the paper, this is one way you can serve. The subscription price is but one dollar per year and you could do much to aid if you would send in the names of interested brethren and friends.... Please remember that it costs us every time you move and do not notify us in advance of your change of address. Will you please send us this information as soon as possible when you know what your new address will be?... More than 300 men registered for the Men's Clinic which was held at Howell's Mill Campground, near Huntington, West Virginia, September 11, 12. The editor was privileged to speak three times to the enthusiastic group, and on the night of September 10 addressed a congregation of brethren at Russell, Kentucky.... We know a brother engaged in mission work in another country who would like to contact someone in the United States who is genuinely interested in collecting stamps. If you are in that category please write to us and we will place you in contact with our brother who is engaged in foreign work at once.... If you desire extra copies of this issue of the paper please notify us at once.
