In Firm Foundation, May 10, appeared an editorial by Brother Reuel Lemmons, under the title "Something Should Be Done." In it our brother deplores disunity and calls for "concrete efforts" to produce unity. On September 14, 1965, he came out for "dialogue between brethren whose opinion and whose interpretations of scripture differ." I charge that one of the basic causes of our disunity is the mistaken view about fellowship by our brother and the faction he represents.

I propose that the two of us do something about it! I hereby offer to meet Bro. Lemmons for two full days of dialogue in any place of his choosing in Texas. I suggest that be select any member of the Abilene Christian College faculty to act as chairman. To this dialogue we should invite all segments of the restoration movement including Disciples of Christ, Independent Christian Churches, and Churches of Christ. Let us have three two-hour sessions daily. In the first let each of us speak an hour, in the second let us question each other, and in the third let us sit down and be questioned by the audience. I suggest as a basis the following proposition: "The practice of instrumental music, the support of liberal arts colleges from a congregational treasury, and the advocacy of the pre-millennial coming of Jesus, should be made a test of fellowship and of union or communion among children of God." Both of us oppose all three so the question will be their relationship to fellowship in Christ.
