Floyd Lord, Toronto, Canada, writes about our
article in the February issue, entitled "The Fiddlers," and says
that "Nero didn't fiddle while Rome burned. The fiddle wasn't
invented until sometime after the burning of Rome."
Fiddlesticks!... Sometime ago we mentioned that the Chestnut
Drive Church of Christ in Doraville, Georgia, had issued a
document in which they took issue with our proposals on unity and
fellowship. Darrell Conley, who preaches there, says in a letter
mailed out with the document, that requests came from all over

Charles Hodge, Fort Worth, Texas, is presenting four articles in
review of the book "Voices of Concern," which are being printed
in North American Christian, P. O. Box 501, Leominster,
Massachusetts 01453. In his first article he declares that no
scholarship or brilliance was exhibited by the writers, and that
their articles were rambling and generally without reason. We
gather that Charles is a little bothered by what he read, and we
urge you to read his reviews.... We appreciate the newsletter
from Dr. Robert and Phyllis Walker. Their address is Hippo Valley

Schreiner, 6105 East Manslick Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40219,
is acting as forwarding agent for money to erect a meetinghouse
in the Waterfalls area of Salisbury, Rhodesia, where Brother W.
L. Brown and others are laboring. These brethren have been
meeting in a private dwelling, and on a recent Sunday morning had
48 present, most of whom had to sit on the porch. They are asking
for $15,000 to help erect adequate quarters.... Attendance at
Johnson Bible College Homecoming was at a record peak. It was our
privilege to speak twice and participate in a question forum.
While in the area we also addressed the annual dinner meeting of
the Student Christian Foundation at the University of
Tennessee.... Walter Short and Charles Owens recently outlined a
more adequate approach to problems in the Negro ghetto area of
Saint Louis, where they are working constantly. For information

other saints in the area are doing a tremendous job of inner city
work.... Restoration Preaching Record Library, P. O. Box 357,
Neosho, Missouri, will bring out its first recorded album in May.
You are urged to write for a brochure listing all speakers and
subjects on these long play records.... It was our privilege to
be at the Abilene Christian College lectureship and to meet and
converse with a number of brethren from various parts of the
world. The enrollment was excellent.... On February 23, 24, we
conducted a forum on fellowship at Westside Christian Church,
Columbia, Missouri, where Lowell E. McCoy acted as a very capable
chairman. While there we addressed the annual banquet of
Collegians for Christ, made up principally of students at the
University of Missouri, whose sponsor is Dr. James Ferneau.... We
regret to chronicle the departure of our brother in Christ,
Newell Le Fever, Decatur, Georgia, who passed away in
November.... The Lake Geneva Encampment of Churches of Christ
will be held June 26-30, with an interesting program prepared,
highlighted by a series of studies on "The Holy Spirit" conducted

reports in Old Paths Advocate that there are approximately
150 congregations in the area with which he has working contact.
Most of these have been started by native village preachers....
The Western Area Christian Convention will be held at Longmont,
Colorado, November 14-16, with the theme being, "Give Me This
Mountain."... The Vernon Oakley family, of Georgetown, Indiana,
plan to go to Zambia, Africa, for missionary work, starting in
January of next year.... The Church of Christ of Conant Gardens,
Detroit, Michigan, held a seminar to discuss the role of the
congregation in inner city work, March 2-5, with J. Harold
Thomas, L. Denton Crews, Ray Chester, Terence Johnson, Zebedee
Bishop and Maurice Haynes, participating. The latter will serve
as a Director of the House of the Carpenter, in
Detroit.... Gordon R. Linscott, who edits The Word and
Work, has an interesting account of his visit to the Worlds
Mission Congress at Wheaton College, in the February issue of his
journal.... We congratulate our brother in Christ, William
Hendren, in whose home we stayed in Belfast, North Ireland, on
his election as a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society,
which contains some of the most eminent men in the various fields
of scientific research.... Approximately one hundred preachers
assembled at Edendale Camp, south of Los Angeles, California, for
a special three day session, in which James Earl Ladd and W. Carl
Ketcherside, each spoke five times.... Restoration
Reporter, edited by James Albert, 330 Park Street, McDonald,
Ohio 44437, was very interesting in its last issue.... Eight
young Chinese students studied with Pence Dacus in Singapore to
qualify themselves to take the message to Malaysia. Brother Dacus
is now teaching at George Pepperdine College.... Milligan College
will feature as a part of its centennial observance, the Sound
Annual Unity Forum, of which the one at Bethany College last year
was the first. It is expected to bring together for the occasion
brethren representing Disciples of Christ, Independent Christian
Churches, and Churches of Christ, for open discussion of problems
related to the heirs of the restoration movement. The meetings
will be held June 23-26. It is expected that the third in the
series of discussions will be conducted in 1968 at Southeastern
Christian College in Winchester, Kentucky.... Bernie Crum reports
three immersed at Flat River, Missouri.... Charles A. Shelton had
a challenging article in the February issue of 20th Century
Christian under the title "Are You Trying Too Hard?.... Our
brother in Christ, John L, Morrison, received his Ph. D. from
Stanford University, January 7. The title of his doctoral
dissertation was "Alexander Campbell and Moral Education."... If
you wish to read the master's thesis by Billy Willbanks,
comparing the work of Leroy Garrett and W. Carl Ketcherside to
the reformatory efforts of Thomas and Alexander Campbell, you may

Made Actual" has been translated into Portugese by David Bayless,
a missionary to Brazil.... The February issue of Restoration
Review, contained a review by James D. Bales, of the article
by Logan Fox, in the book, "Voices of Concern," with Logan's
evaluation of the review.... The Christian Appeal for
February contained a series of articles on "Truth" and the
editors are to be commended for a very provocative and attractive
journal.... We find ourselves at the place where we must urge our
readers to secure and send in subscriptions for MISSION
