A few years ago, my brother Paul and myself conducted the funeral services for our beloved mother. Now he has conducted the funeral service for his oldest daughter, Vicki, who died suddenly, leaving a husband and two little girls. The White Brothers sang at the service. Following the funeral, it was necessary for Paul to place his wife back in the hospital. They live at Nowata, Oklahoma 74048.... Richard L. Jones writes from Porterville, California, "If Alexander Campbell could see what has happened to his grand design to unite the Christians of all sects he would feel that he must begin all over again."... Harold Fox, Malta, Montana, has been extending his ministry to the local Alcoholics Anonymous group, for which he has spoken several times. His son, Sam Fox, is now carrying on a campus ministry at the University of Wisconsin, in Madison.... If you need individual copies of MISSION MESSENGER tO fill out your file you might write to W. L. Buttram, P. 0. Box 482, Eudora, Kansas 66025, stating the ones you lack. If he has them he will send them to you and pay the postage.... Logan Fox is teaching a College-Career class in Inglewood, California, of which his daughter Ramona is president. This class is accomplishing real things by being actively engaged in a Mexican work project, as well as helping a Negro congregation in Watts, opening their homes to U.S.O. young men and women away from home, and assisting the Red Cross blood program.... A letter from Bob Haddow, Temple City, California, tells of the departure of his grandmother to be with Jesus at the age of 95. We will miss this gentle soul. Bob, who is almost wholly paralyzed, has been one of the great inspirations of my life.... A newly signed lease with East Tennessee State University, makes property at 908 West Maple Street, Johnson City, available for use as a Christian Campus Center. The work will be supervised by James D. Sanders, senior student at Emmanuel School of Religion.... Our brother, Rod Cameron, recently held a meeting at Amboy Methodist Church, in Indiana, where he immersed eleven who had previously been sprinkled and another who came forward for initial confession of the Christ. Rod is continuing to attend their weekly Bible study.... Ira Y. Rice calls the book, Voices of Concern, "the most vicious onslaught against Churches of Christ to appear in the 20th century," and says it is "a dagger at the throat of the church." He labels the editor, Robert Meyers, as "a traitor to the cause of truth." We very humbly suggest that you read the book and form your own conclusions. It is only $3.50, and anything which causes that much excitement ought to be interesting.... The theme of the North American Christian Convention, to be held in Cobo Hall, Detroit, Michigan, July 8-11, is "Jesus Christ Leads to Life."... We promise you an interesting and enlightening time if you will come.... I shall mention in passing that I will be at Northwest Christian College, Eugene, Oregon, May 6-8, and in a Leadership Training School in Chicago, Illinois, May 14-16. We will give greater details of these in our next issue. We hope our brethren will "get with it" and share in these spiritual encounters.... Our good personal friend, Dr. A. D. Dennison, Jr., had an article in the January 17 issue of Christianity Today under the title, "Golf Isn't Enough." We hope you read it.... We lost a real friend and brother when E. L. Jorgenson departed to be with Jesus. Bro. Jorgenson died in California and was buried in Louisville, Kentucky, December 20.... We are also saddened to chronicle the death of Esther (Beam) Montfelt, in California, on December 23. She was a sister of Ernest Beam, who pleaded for unity when some of the rest of us were quite factional. Members of this family have come to mean much to me in the Lord.... A group of young people will start a coffee shop in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., in an attempt to reach and reclaim alcoholics, addicts, prostitutes and others with problems. Whitehead, 211 East Park Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36110, has written a good article on the theme, "The Fellowship of the New Testament."... The elders of a growing congregation in a university town are looking for a brother with creativity and imagination to launch a work with their young people. They do not want someone who will simply do things within the building but one who will take advantage of witnessing situations and undertake genuine Christian service in the city and community. Although this is a non-instrument congregation, the question is not made a test of fellowship, and the brother selected may be from any segment of the restoration movement. If he desires to teach on the high school or college level they will substantially augment his teaching income. Otherwise they will support him adequately if he will work at the task. If you are interested why not send me a letter and I will forward it to these brethren.... If you want to help circulate the good news in your area write us for special bundle rates on the paper so you can share with others.
