Brethren from fourteen states attended the
forum at Hartford, Illinois, December 28, 29. Despite the fact
that every segment of the restoration movement was represented,
and the topics were extremely controversial, there was not one
untoward incident, and the demonstration of unity in diversity
was outstanding. Speakers were Ervin Waters, Gordon Wilson,
Charles Holt, Robert Duncan, Edward Fudge, Leroy Garrett, Hall C.
Crowder, Russell Boatman, Lavern Houtz and Seth Wilson.... More
than two hundred high school and college students from many
states gathered at Dunn Road Chapel, Saint Louis, for a three-day
seminar, which was the most meaningful of any of these annual
events. It was my privilege to conduct a class for advanced
students and to speak to the entire assembly. Other teachers were
Bernie Crum, Bob White, Walter Wicklund, and Daniel Munger.
Special counselling sessions were conducted by Harold Key and
Jerry Higginbotham.... I deeply mourn the loss of an aged
brother, Charles Bussard, who lived near Springfield, Missouri.
He was well past ninety when he departed this life. I have known
him since I stayed in his hospitable home as a mere lad.... We
regret to report that our brother, Vernon Hurst, suffered a
coronary attack, but glad he was making satisfactory gain. Vernon
is producing a series of lessons on the work of the Holy Spirit
under the title, "The Promise is Unto Us." The introduction was
written by Pat Boone. We intend to print in our May issue "A Tale
of the Wholly Graal," an interesting tongue-in-cheek bit by Louis
C. Medcalf.... We have a limited number of these paperbacks,

I want to commend J. D. Thomas and the other brethren at Abilene
Christian College who arranged the Preachers' Workshop this year.
More than 700 men were present, representing many facets of
thought, and the open discussions were conducted with respect for
all who participated.... The study in Farmington, New Mexico was
a refreshing occasion. The house was filled to capacity for the
night meetings, and the morning question forums were well
attended by brethren from several states. Our brother, Paul
McFarland, guides the congregation of able and cooperative
saints, while Jack Wheat labors in a community which has the
utmost respect for his efforts. The meeting was a mountain-top
experience.... The 334th free copy of my book Simple Trusting
Faith went to Kent Hug, who is a student at Eastern Oregon
College, in La Grande; the 335th copy went to Leslie W. Euper, at
Ozark Bible College, Joplin, Missouri. This book, which is now
being used by several colleges in their apologetics classes will
be sent free to any student in college or university who

Ernest Kehr, who departed this life at approximately 99 years of
age. He was an elder of the congregation at Alder Springs,
Missouri, for many years, and I have known him since my boyhood

Atlanta Christian College, has just produced a second volume for
use as a study basis for adult classes and teacher training. It
is entitled "Gems of Bible Doctrine" and is an excellent work.
