I conducted the third study in depth at Newport, Oregon, April 10-14, and the attendance exceeded both other years, with the auditorium filled every night and an excellent attendance at the morning question forums. Brethren attended from all segments of the restoration movement. Bob Church is doing a remarkable job in the community and the brethren have an excellent outreach program.... The evening lessons dealt with the book of Romans, at Newport, and these were all recorded and can be secured on tapes or cassettes by writing to Vernon H. Woods, 3950 Coburg Road, Space 87, Eugene, Oregon 97401. You can also secure the open question forums held each day, and these covered a multitude of timely subjects. The cost will be minimal. Write to Vernon for information.... You will be interested to know that I have accepted an invitation from J. D. Thomas to speak on the theme of fellowship at the next Preachers' Workshop at Abilene Christian College. I will be speaking on the morning of Wednesday, January 3, and due to the importance of the subject it has been decided to eliminate any other speeches except those of two reactors, so the brethren can explore the theme of fellowship all morning. We sincerely ask your prayers in behalf of this effort.... It was my privilege to speak twice at Saint Louis Christian College during Hi-Er School Days, to the several hundred high school young people in attendance.... Nell and I lost a friend and sister in the Lord, when Vera Waggoner departed this life, as a result of massive brain surgery caused by a tumor which has been developing for more than ten years.... Our study at Hoxie, Kansas was a thrilling occasion, with brethren from Christian Churches and Churches of Christ driving many miles to attend and share in the occasion. While there I spoke to the whole high school and to the patients in a home for the aged. One entire day was given over to a discussion on fellowship. Each night we shared in refreshments and a talk-fest after the regular meeting. Darrell Foltz is God's man for the location and is doing a remarkable job in every facet of the work.... The April issue of Mission features an article by Don Haymes under the title "Church of Christism--From Voices of Concern to Thoughts on Unity." Don is in a class by himself as a writer and what he has to say is always worth reading. We think that you ought to see his contrast between the books--one edited by Robert Meyers, and the other by Stanley Paregien, and both produced by MISSION MESSENGER. Incidentally, we can supply you a copy of Thoughts on Unity, for $5.95. It is a unique book which cuts across all of the lines to secure its authors.... I trust that you will remember that the annual unity forum will be held this year at Blaney Avenue Church of Christ, Cupertino, California, July 6, 7, 8. Many brethren feel that this will be one of the finest of the gatherings which bring together men from Disciples of Christ, Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.... Zachary Michini would like for us to mention that a group of saints is meeting in Lucedale, Mississippi, at the Business Women's Clubhouse, and you are invited to attend. You can write him for information at General Delivery, Lucedale, Mississippi 39452.... We have sent out 465 free copies of my book Simple Trusting Faith to colleges and university students thus far. The 462nd went to Wesley Jessup at Alaska Methodist University, in Anchorage; the 463rd to Gary Altmiller, Abilene Christian College; the 464th to Curt Nordhielm, Lincoln Christian College; and the 465th to Marshall Morgan at Freed-Hardeman

College. A copy of this book will be sent absolutely free to any student enrolled in any college or university in the world, upon receipt of a personal request for one. No books are sent out on a proxy request. All you need do is to send a card or letter to us at 139 Signal Hill Drive, Saint Louis, Missouri 63121, and ask for the book. We even pay the postage. If you are not a college student you may secure a copy by sending $3.50 with your order.... Wayne Harris is returning from Denmark where he has labored in the Cause to begin his studies in the Master of Social Work program at the University of Utah. He is a brother of great ability and will make good in this new endeavor.... As a result of my dialogue session with brethren at Florida College during the lectureship, several papers have been carrying on a running attack upon the position which I enunciated on that fellowship which we share in Christ Jesus. Our brother, Ray Ferris, has a series in Truth Magazine, which we think you ought to read. Ray admits that "the extremely liberal views of brother Ketcherside, and others, seem to be gaining more than a passing interest among some of the Lord's people in Tampa." The thought that unity in Jesus Christ is possible now in spite of differences of opinion is gaining an interest all over the world. This bothers many of our brethren, and you should read their opposition. The magazine is addressed at Box 403, Marion, Indiana 46952.... We regret that our brother, H. E. Phillips, editor of Searching the Scriptures was forced to postpone his review of what he refers to as my "despicable doctrine on fellowship." We eagerly pray that our brother will recover sufficiently that he can continue his attack, because we consider that it is important that all sides be heard. The address of his paper is P.O. Box 17244, Tampa, Florida 33612. We rejoice that the opposition can be read by all.... The April issue of Integrity carried two dynamic articles. One was "The Ethics of Evangelistic Persuasion" by Perry C. Cotham; the other "The House Church" by Hoy G. Ledbetter. It is generally known that this neat little journal is making a very significant contribution to thought in our generation and those who are not reading it are missing a lot. The address is 8494 Bush Hill Court, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439.... A brother or sister is needed to help care for a brother who is a victim of polio. The work is not at all strenuous for one of normal health, and you will live in a lake home in the North Sunrise Beach area of Lake L. B. Johnson, near Llano, Texas. You will have leisure time for reading, writing, fishing, etc., with days off as needed, and will attend at church service in the home. If interested write to C. B. Jones, 220 Cove Lane, Click Route, Llano, Texas 78643, or call (915) 388-4382.... I trust that it will be my privilege to see a number of the brethren whom I know at the North American Christian Convention, in Cincinnati, where I will be one of the speakers in the College-Career sessions.... I shall be at Macrorie, Saskatchewan, teaching in the camp, July 21-25 if our Lord wills, and August 11, 12, will be with Knofel Staton at the Men's Clinic at Rock Garden, in the Missouri Ozarks. For information contact Dean Stoops, Box 41, Mountain View, Missouri 65548. Don't miss this one, men! It will be a great time in the Lord!... Nell and I will really appreciate it if you will send in your subscription in advance of expiration. It will save time, money and work. Why not send three dollars for three years? Why not include a subscription for some of your friends?
