We want to encourage all of our readers in the area to attend the unity forum which will be held with Leroy Garrett, at Grassy Church of Christ, near Arab, Alabama, September 1-3. It will be an unforgettable thrill. For information contact Paul Duren, 711 Fifth Street, Arab, Alabama 35016. The telephone number is (205)586-5452... We are saddened by the death of Sam F. Meyers, Phoenix, Arizona, and of Clinton Jones, St. Louis, Missouri.... If you want them to be with you write Jack Wheat, 1201 Moonlight Mesa, Farmington, New Mexico 87401.... I want to welcome my good friend and brother, E. P. C. Hollard, to the United States after years of service in Australia. Eric is with First Christian Church at Tulsa, Oklahoma.... Darrell Bolin closed a ten-weeks Bible study class at Williamport, Pennsylvania, but will begin anew in the autumn. This is an undertaking which touches minds across the whole religious spectrum.... It was interesting to hear from my brother in Christ, John T. Chase, who is temporarily teaching in the Bible Seminary at Cebu City, in the Philippine Islands . . . One of the cleverest things I have seen in a long time is a cartoon booklet dealing with making tests of fellowship out of opinions and experiences. It is titled "1 Cent. Pics" which is an abbreviation of "First Century Pictures." You can probably get one by writing to P. D. Weston, 5271 Pinedale Avenue, Burlington, Ontario, Canada.... The series of studies at Elgin, Oregon, proved to be very helpful and interesting. In addition to the evening studies on the Holy Spirit, I was permitted to speak three times at the High School and an equal number of times at the elementary schools. In addition there was a men's breakfast, a women's luncheon, and a youth banquet. William E. Miller is doing an excellent job in the local congregation.... On May 21 I delivered the commencement address at Aspen (Colorado) High School, where our oldest grandchild, Dawn, graduated. As the valedictorian, she spoke immediately following my address. It was a thrill for Nell and me to be present with the other grandparents, Melvin and Gladys Burton, who came from Escondido, California, for the occasion.... Our meeting at Flat River, Missouri, brought out an excellent attendance every night. I spoke at a Lion's Club luncheon and a Rotary Club dinner during my stay, and we had one meeting which lasted throughout the entire day. Present one night was my first grade teacher when I began school in this area where I was born and lived for several years. Bernie Crum, who labors with the brethren there, is known and respected in the whole area.... Dwain Dunning, a brother who has been teaching at Saint Louis Christian College is going to Grand Island, Nebraska. We will miss him, especially at the Hartford Forum.... Speaking of the forum reminds me that the questions to be dis-

[Page 112]
cussed this year are as follows: What is the nature and extent of the work of women in the church?; What should be the attitude of Christians toward interracial marriage?; Is the current "Jesus People" or "Street Christian" movement a valid scriptural phenomenon, and what should be the attitude toward it of the established church?; What are the specific scriptural grounds on which a local congregation may exclude brethren from its communion?; What constitutes the worship required of citizens of the kingdom of heaven in this dispensation? This is a gathering of free men in which brethren may state their honest convictions without fear of reprisal. The forum will be held at Hartford, Illinois, December 28, 29. Information may be secured by contacting Berdell McCann, 118 East Second Street, Hartford, Illinois 62048.... We have three new book lists which are available to you free upon request They are: Mission Messenger Books in Print (72-B); Enjoyable Books in Paperback (72-C); and Books for the Serious Student (72-D). Just ask for them by number and we will mail them to you at once.... The annual spiritual encampment at Arrowhead of Ball Lake will be held July 30-August 20. For reservations write to Ellis Crum, Kendallville, Indiana 46755. Ellis is also cooperating in arranging a campaign at Skelmersdale, England for June 1973. In this he will be assisting Brian Stevens and Albert E. Winstanley. If you are interested in helping be sure and contact him soon. He is arranging a trip to Bible Lands for November 1-22 this year.... In the May issue of Searching the Scriptures, our brother in the Lord, Melvin D. Curry, Jr., says his "surprise was quickly transformed into indignant rage" when he read my report of the meeting at the Florida College lectureship. Perhaps you would like to read his own article, and if so, you may address the journal at P. 0. Box 17244, Tampa, Florida 33612. Our brother is a member of the faculty at the college.... It is my fervent hope that we will see many brethren from the prairie provinces of Canada at the family camp to be held at Macrorie, Saskatchewan, July 21-25. I will be at the Rock Garden Men's Clinic in the Missouri Ozarks, August 11, 12, where I will deliver four addresses and hold open discussions with those present. You can secure information from Dean Stoops, P.O. Box 41, Mountain View, Missouri 65548.... Glynn and Ann Langston are going to France to share the Good News. Glynn, who has been blind from birth graduated cum laude from Southwestern University, and is fluent in French, as well as having a conversational knowledge of German, Russian and Spanish.... R. L. Crawford, P.O. Box 207, Helmuth, N.Y. 14079, is a black brother who is ministering to the mentally ill in Gowanda State Hospital. He would like for all editors of religious papers and bulletins to put him on the list to receive their publications, which he will share with patients when suitable. We do hope you will answer his appeal.... If you will send us five dollars we will mail you these four books: The Plain Truth About Armstrongism (Roger R. Chambers); Thirty Years A Watchtower Slave (William J. Schnell); Confronting Christ (Elton Trueblood); A Second Touch (Keith Miller). That will be a lot of reading this summer for a very meager investment.... Our lead article next month will pay tribute to the quest for truth. It will be entitled "Spiritual Argonauts." We hope that you will read it with care and concern. Do not forget that all of the issues of the paper for 1972 will be bound into a beautiful volume to be called The Divine Purpose. This will be a limited edition but you can reserve yours now if you would like. Send no money. Just tell us how many copies you would like. We will bill you upon delivery.
