I am glad that President Gerald Ford selected Robert Hartman as one of his chief advisers. Bob used to write a monthly article for Mission Messenger and he was a top-notch journalist.... The Evangelical Press Association meeting in Colorado Springs, heard a report that sales of Christian books are soaring and nearly a third of the people who buy such books seldom attend religious services.... The death of my good friend and brother, Leon Appel, was a real shock. Leon was president of Lincoln Christian College.... The School of Ministry held at Milligan College produced the largest attendance this year in the history of the annual event. It was a tremendous season of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.... Due to advanced age and encroaching blindness, Roy Loney has relinquished editorship of The Gospel Message to F. Wilford Landes, 9601 East 66th Street, Raytown, Missouri 64133. The subscription price of the paper is $1.50 per year.... Floyd Chappelear, 3910 Glenbrook, Fairfax, Virginia 22030, has announced that he is starting a magazine to be called Sentry which will feature articles on Christian living. The prospectus points to some needed material in this day. The paper will be issued monthly and the subscription price is $2.00 per year.... David F. Graf had an excellent article entitled "Some Views on a Controversial Text" (Isaiah 7:14), in the August issue of Integrity which is published at 8494 Bush Hill Court, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. The editor, Hoy Ledbetter, had an article "Some Good Reading" in which he commended several other magazines. His own makes excellent reading. Send for a sample copy.... We have been favored in receiving a copy of The Christian Witness, edited by Allan J. Moore, Spring Grove, R. D. 1, Wakefield, Nelson, New Zealand, and pleading for "a restoration of New Testament Christianity."... A great number of brethren are writing about their appreciation of my book on the Holy Spirit, titled Heaven Help Us. Many of them mention the chapter on the sin against the Spirit, which they like best. So do I. If you'd like to have a copy send $2.95 and Nell will mail you a copy at once. We hope that you will allow others to read it when you've finished with it.... A letter from Ralph Harter, Jr., says he is starting on his furlough from his labors in Kanpur, India. He is doing a great job in a hard field.... The little rural congregation meeting at Mount Eagle, near Howard, Pennsylvania needs our help financially. Two years ago their meetinghouse was completely destroyed by fire and now they have purchased a building formerly owned by the Methodist Church. They have invested all they have. Living New Testaments are being sent to every telephone subscriber in Pakistan. Similar programs have been completed in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Malaysia, Ceylon and the city of Bangkok. The goal is to mail out 300 million copies of God's Word in the next ten years.... In a Bible reading marathon in Guilford and Bromley, England, it took 82 hours of round-the-clock readings to go through the entire Bible.... A recent survey by US News and World Report indicates that television is the most important influence in the daily life of Americans. Organized religion ranks 18th....
