Home Life and Reminiscenses of Alexander Campbell is a 502 page book by Selina Huntington Campbell, Alexander's second wife. It is interesting and stirring reading and provides some insights into the domestic scene at Bethany not found anywhere else, except in quotations from the book. If you are interested in the history of a movement you should read it. $5.00.
The Christian Preacher's Companion by Alexander Campbell consists of the book which Campbell sub-titled "The Gospel Facts Sustained by the Testimony of Unbelieving Jews and Pagans." Be sure and read Campbell's introduction when you get the book. It is bound under one cover with Christian Evidences, by James Challen, so that actually you are getting two pioneer books in one. These men did a lot of research in their day. The book is $4.00.
The first time I ever read the Autobiography of Samuel Rogers was at Middletown, Indiana. It was a good place to read it because this was near the birthplace of Benjamin Franklin, who became the gospel preacher, and Samuel Rogers tells of immersing him into Christ. This is a thrilling story of hardship and perseverance. Included in the same book is Where The Long Trail Begins, by S. S. Lappin who was editor of Christian Standard when he wrote it. The book will take you back into our yesterdays and it is worth $4.00.
A Symposium on the Holy Spirit was first published in 1879 to set forth what the old-timers thought about the Spirit. Included is the article by Alexander Campbell on "The Influence of the Holy Spirit on Conversion and Sanctification." Another volume, Baptism in Spirit and in Fire, by James Challen is also included so you again get two books in one for your library. $4.00.
We would like to send you five paperbacks for only $7.00 which we do not think you could pick up for that price at your local religious book store. We will even pay the postage. The books are Jesus Spells Freedom, by Michael Green; By the Power of the Holy Spirit, by David M. Howard; Making Men Whole, by J. B. Phillips; Basic Introduction to the New Testament, and The Baptism and Fulness of the Holy Spirit, by John R. W. Stott. If you want something to challenge your thinking send seven dollars for these today.
Heaven Help Us is my own book dealing with the identity, nature and work of the Holy Spirit. It was not written with reference to any temporary emphasis on the Spirit but is my expression of what I feel the Spirit is intended to do for every child of God. It is possible that you already have a copy but if you do not, we will send you one at once if you send a check for $2.95.
The Parable of Telstar and Other Talks is my volume containing sixteen messages delivered at various places. Of especial interest are the four talks designed for university students. The aim of the book is to strengthen faith in God and His revelation. We think you would like it and it is only $2.95.
Christians Only, by the late James DeForest Murch is probably one of the best books available for the average student who wants a history of the restoration movement launched by the Campbells and their contemporaries. It is good as a reference work but it is also excellent just to sit down and read. The price for the book is $3.50 per copy.
