The trustees of Mission announced as winners of their awards for
outstanding literary achievement in conveying the Christian message, Elton D. Higgs, R. Lanny
Hunter and Perry C. Gotham. The winners were in that order.... Erskine Scates publicly
announced that the World Vision Crusade sponsored by Intermountain Bible College, was "the
best ever." It was my privilege to speak three times and to conduct two question forums....
Ronald C. Hasten, 625 NW 38th Court, Pompano Beach, Florida 33064, would like to conduct
one-week gospel meetings during the last half of this year, preferably with smaller places. He
will come without remuneration except his expenses.... The North American Christian
Convention, to be held in Cobo Hall, Detroit, Michigan, July 8-11, is shaping up for an excellent
attendance. The program is terrific!... Our meeting at Central Christian Church, Bryan, Texas,
served as a catalyst around which brethren from many segments of the restoration heirs gathered.
It was my privilege to stay in the home of Al B. Nelson, for thirty years a professor of history at
Texas A. and M., and it was an enriching experience.... The Men's Retreat held at Lake Wales,
Florida, was announced to be the largest and best in the history of this rather memorable event. I
spoke at three meetings and conducted open forum question periods which really probed into
some of the problems we face in this generation.... Ray Downen, who sponsors Mission

of David Lipscomb College, and both earned their master's degree at the University of Illinois....
Enid L. Johnson, a graduate of Eugene Bible University, who lives at 812 Fircrest Drive,
Newberg, Oregon 97132, has a book called Within the Church, dealing with unity and
fellowship. She will send you one for a dollar, or you can secure 12 for $10.00 if you want to
share them.... It was my privilege to read a copy of the master's thesis titled "A History of
Kentucky Christian College." Jim R. Wright produced it to complete his work at Emmanuel
School of Religion.... I was deeply distressed to read in The Word and Work of the death
of my friend and brother, Willis H. Allen. The time I spent in his home was a spiritually
refreshing experience.... The University of Minnesota student daily takes note of a "definite
renewal of student interest in religion" on that
campus. I think I can see the same trend everywhere I go. Praise the Lord!... In 1970 Gallup
pollsters revealed that 75 per cent of the people believed religion was losing its hold on society.
A recent poll shows that now only 56 per cent believe that. The poll also shows that Bible
reading is up with 63 per cent of the people reading the Bible weekly.... I will be with the

singer.... August 9, 10 will find us celebrating the centennial of the rural congregation known as
New Liberty, near Windsor and Sullivan, Illinois. It will be a great event. The congregation is
just a few miles from Sand Creek Church, which has become rather famous because of the
reading of the "Sand Creek Address" which began the fragmentation of the restoration heirs....
August 15, 16 it will be my privilege to share in a Family Camp with the saints at
Mechanicsville, Virginia.... September 8, 9 I am to speak at the Chicago Area Men's Meeting.
My themes will be: How to Get the Kernel Out of the Shell; How to Be a Father and Mother to
Spiritual Children; and How to Face the Demands of an Intellectual Age. It appears that we shall
have a great time.... September 17-19 I will be back with the saints at Hanover, New Mexico,
and I can hardly wait for the time. If you want to learn more about it please write to Albert Botts,

me say that I shall be at Danville, Illinois, October 1-3; Orrville, Ohio, October 15-17; Flora,

at Ontario Christian Seminary, Toronto, Canada, November 19-21. Lest I forget I want to say
that I am also scheduled to be at Wickliffe, Ohio, in the Cleveland area, December 3-5. More
will follow about these and many other scheduled meetings later on, but if you are free to do so,
plan to attend some of them. Next year is rapidly being scheduled and great doors and effectual
