A Message from Francis E. Clark

I wonder if I may express through you my great interest in the anniversary which your people are holding this week? It is one of the great events in the religious history of America. I know of no denomination that has made

such wonderful gains during the last fifty years. Evidently the Lord has been with you, and the fact that your churches have stood so strongly for the truth as it is in Jesus Christ, know the Bible as the word of God, and have fellowship with all those who love our Lord, is one of the outstanding features of religious history and an encouragement to all other churches to do likewise. I was invited by some of your church authorities to be with you on this significant and important anniversary, and it would have been a great pleasure to have accepted the invitation, were it not for the fact that I am sailing this very week for India to attend the World's Christian Endeavor Convention in Agra, India. [Mr. Clark sailed to-day.]

No denomination in America has more consistently or cordially endorsed and promoted the Christian Endeavor cause than yourselves, and as I go to India, where I shall doubtless see some of your missionaries, I shall make it plain how much I believe our cause is indebted to the kindly advocacy of your people.

I am glad that one of the editors of the Christian Endeavor World, Mr. R. P. Anderson, who was long a faithful missionary of your churches in Norway and Denmark, can represent us at your anniversary.

Faithfully yours,
FRANCIS E. CLARK.

      J. B. Briney was appointed to make a suitable reply.
