It is lively, stimulating, precise and eminently quotable. The summary treatment of each passage is an invitation to read the whole and savour the author's comments. These are like an opal, sparkling with fire and light, ever changing in colour, inviting you to look deeper into their truth. Arthur's presentation is scholarly, but never pretentious.
