Louisville Bible Conference Living Messages [1949] |
FOREWORD
The Louisville Bible Conference and Preachers' Meeting of 1948 was the result of an impulse among many that a gathering of preachers and other Bible teachers and students for an extended discussion of vital topics and themes would be most helpful, not only for those attending the meeting, but also for the churches represented by them. Acting upon this impulse, the Shawnee church of Christ authorized its minister to work with other brethren on a committee to arrange for such a meeting. The meeting was held from September 6th to 10th, inclusive, with three sessions daily, the morning and afternoon sessions being held at the Shawnee church, and the evening sessions at Portland Avenue.
Responding to many requests for the speeches to be brought out in book form, the speakers prepared manuscripts of their lectures for publication. Some of them were delayed, and this partly accounts for the delay in presenting this book to the public. However, the messages herein contained are as fresh as when they were originally delivered, and are designed to edify and enlighten those who read them, renewing their spirits, brightening their hopes, and strengthening their faith. The messages are all true to the "sacred writings," which are able to make us "wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (2 Tim. 3:15). [5]
