What goes under this name is not the history of the true church. The true church history is yet to be written or to be revealed in that day. It is known only to God. It is the record of congregations that kept faith and hope and love through all trials; of obscure individuals who struggled for the love of Jesus against every manner of hindrance; of humble men and women whom the world never knew, and of whom it was not worthy. It is a history of obedience and prayer and self-sacrifice and childlike trust, and withal the history of a minority. But "the Lord knoweth them that are his."
