PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION

The first edition of this little book was quickly sold out, but the call for it continued. It was then carefully revised and in part re-written, and appeared serially in the Word and Work. Once more, then, these serial articles have been revised for final publication in the present book-form. The writer believes that this new edition is to that extent an improvement upon the first.

We are not of those who consider the Revelation a superfluous or unintelligible book. We believe in it as an important and weighty part of God's message to us. Every part of God's word is essential in its season and for its purpose. By this statement is meant that in the course of the changing circumstances one or another part of the scripture (even the seemingly unimportant portion) becomes supremely necessary, and that ignorance of it at such a time is fatal. It is the writer's judgment that the hour is fast approaching, yea, already is upon us, in which the teaching of the Revelation (always important and necessary) is to be indispensable to the people of God. If this little book will be a help to any in the study and understanding of that portion of God's word--yea, if it even stirs up any of us earnestly to search and see "whether these things be so," it will do good.--R. H. B.
