PREFACE TO THE THIRD EDITION
(Written at the close of World War II)
Since the sending forth of the second edition of this little book, what momentous world-events have transpired! A second world-war, more gigantic in its scope, more terrible in its nature than the first has been fought; and its aftermath finds the world in confusion and in fear of the future. A third world-war, of unimaginable issues, looms among the possibilities; and the dread spectre of totalitarian government oppresses the hearts of men. In many regions of the earth, literally, men's hearts are failing them for fear and for expectation of the things that are coming upon the world. (Luke 21:26.) At such a time as this we turn with renewed interest to the prophetic portions of the Bible, and most especially to the book of Revelation sent by the glorified Lord to His churches. (Revelation 22:16.) And it is hoped that this little book, issued now for the third time, in new dress and improved form, may fill its place of a brief, simple, sober, faithful exposition of the great Apocalypse which closes the canon of the Bible and in which the eyes of faith may read the destiny of the world and the consummation of all God's works.--November, 1946.--R.H. Boll
