A Brighter Day

[Page 142]

The cause for which we plead is gaining momentum. Brethren are throwing off the shackles of orthodoxy and are beginning to realize that the brotherhood includes a greater number than any of our factions. It is true that there are still areas of narrowness and bitterness where the rancor of yesterday lingers on, but these are fading into oblivion.

The papers which only echo the hoarse party cries and grind out the grist of suspicion and hate are having less impact all of the time. New journalistic voices are being heard directed toward the challenges of our day, and this is good. We cherish every man's right to be heard. If any brother wants to start a paper let him do so. We will read it and do so as readily if it disagrees with our views as if it concurs with them. We have never yet marked "Refused" on any reading matter sent to us by a brother and we never intend to do so.

More and more gatherings are being held where brethren ignore party lines and share in sessions for mutual benefit. We rejoice to see this and long for the day when in every major center of population and influence we can demonstrate that unity which transcends our petty differences. A brighter day is coming!
