(1). Those who are interested in the study of Hebrew should acquaint themselves at once with the Hebrew Studies Program in the Department of Linguistics, The University of Texas, at Austin. This is the most intriguing thing of its kind we have ever heard about. It has assembled eminent professors from Israel and brought them together in an outstanding presentation. For instance, one feature is a highly concentrated course in modern Hebrew, designed to include both post-Doctoral and beginner students. The course covers two years of study in the language (12 hours college credit) in only twelve weeks of school. Numerous grants, loans and scholarships are available to those who can qualify. You may address Roy Blizzard, Box 1502, Austin Texas 78767, or write directly to the leader of the program: Professor Aaron Bar-Adon, Batts Hall 235, The University of Texas, Austin, Texas 78712. After talking with Roy Blizzard personally, and examining the brochures of this program, we are congratulating the university for arranging such a program and urging all who are interested in this field of linguistics to write about it as shown above.
(2). The Hartford Illinois Forum for free discussion will be held this year on December 28, 29, with the initial meeting starting at 2:00 o'clock p. m., December 28. Featured will be men from the Disciples of Christ, Independent Christian Churches, and non-instrument Churches of Christ. The congregation at Hartford is one of the latter. The discussion this year will deal with ministry and patternism and will explore the question of whether there is a given pattern of church polity. The congregation at Hartford furnishes free meals to those who attend (except breakfast) and will provide lodging in homes for as many as possible with no cost. Those who desire to stay in motels will find them convenient to the place of meeting. This is not a "loaded" meeting and conformity is not its goal. Those who participate may speak their honest sentiments without fear of reprisal although all speakers must participate in the two hour question forum when queries are taken from the floor. For information write to Berdell McCann, 118 East Second Street, Hartford, Illinois. We urge you to do this at once if you plan to attend.
