Our Commendation

1. To Paul Easley and Dudley Lynch, for raising journalistic reporting to a new high, in their editing of The Christian Chronicle. The objectivity and fairness which they have exhibited makes the paper a genuine thrill to read.
2. To brethren on both sides of the so-called "cooperation issue" who met in face-to-face discussion at Leakey, Texas, January 13-15. Speakers included J. D. Thomas, James W. Adams, O. J. Russell, Robert Parish, Hulen Jackson, Robert Turner, Jerry Riley, W. L. Wharton, Reuel Lemmons and Stanley J. Lovett. Although it was reported that "nothing has changed," it is evident that something has when brethren can talk to each other about their problems instead of about each other.
3. To brethren in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who met for the third unity meeting featuring men from the Disciples of Christ, Independent Christian Churches, and two segments of the Churches of Christ. The meeting was held at Dallas Christian College by invitation of Vernon Newland, with Ronnie Hannah as moderator. Among the participants were J. W. Roberts, J. D. Thomas, Neil Lightfoot, Edward Rockey and Dewayne Davenport. Copies of the speeches may be obtained by request from the Church of Christ, 915 West Park Row, Arlington, Texas. In spite of a published attack by brethren of an opposing congregation in Arlington, plans are going forward for another such gathering in the next sixty days.
4. To Gene Dulin, Weston, Ontario, Canada, and the brethren directly associated with him, in the successful effort to supply Bibles and testaments in the Russian language to those behind the "iron curtain." We rejoice in all such attempts to meet our twentieth century problems instead of retreating from them.
