1:1 Iudas Iesu Christi servus frater 1. Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ,
autem Iacobi his qui in Deo Patre and brother of James, to them that are
dilectis et Iesu Christo conservatis sanctified by God the Father, and
vocatis preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
1:2 misericordia vobis et pax et 2. Mercy unto you, and peace, and
caritas adimpleatur love, be multiplied.
1:3 carissimi omnem sollicitudinem 3. Beloved, when I gave all diligence
faciens scribendi vobis de communi to write unto you of the common
vestra salute necesse habui scribere salvation, it was needful for me to
vobis deprecans supercertari semel write unto you, and exhort you that ye
traditae sanctis fidei should earnestly contend for the faith
which was once delivered unto the
                                             saints.
1:4 subintroierunt enim quidam homines 4. For there are certain men crept in
qui olim praescripti sunt in hoc unawares, who were before of old
iudicium impii Dei nostri gratiam ordained to this condemnation, ungodly
transferentes in luxuriam et solum men, turning the grace of our God into
Dominatorem et Dominum nostrum Iesum lasciviousness, and denying the only
Christum negantes Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
1:5 commonere autem vos volo scientes 5. I will therefore put you in
semel omnia quoniam Iesus populum de remembrance, though ye once knew this,

non crediderunt perdidit people out of the land of Egypt,
                                             afterward destroyed them that believed
                                             not.
1:6 angelos vero qui non servaverunt 6. And the angels which kept not
suum principatum sed dereliquerunt suum their first estate, but left their own
domicilium in iudicium magni diei habitation, he hath reserved in

1:7 sicut Sodoma et Gomorra et 7. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and
finitimae civitates simili modo the cities about them in like manner,
exfornicatae et abeuntes post carnem giving themselves over to fornication,

aeterni poenam sustinentes forth for an example, suffering the
                                             vengeance of eternal fire.
1:8 similiter et hii carnem quidem 8. Likewise also these filthy
maculant dominationem autem spernunt dreamers defile the flesh, despise
maiestates autem blasphemant dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
1:9 cum Michahel archangelus cum 9. Yet Michael the archangel, when
diabolo disputans altercaretur de Mosi contending with the devil he disputed
corpore non est ausus iudicium inferre about the body of Moses, durst not

Dominus but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
1:10 hii autem quaecumque quidem 10. But these speak evil of those
ignorant blasphemant quaecumque autem things which they know not: but what
naturaliter tamquam muta animalia they know naturally, as brute beasts,

1:11 vae illis quia via Cain abierunt 11. Woe unto them! for they have gone
et errore Balaam mercede effusi sunt et in the way of Cain, and ran greedily
contradictione Core perierunt after the error of Balaam for reward,
and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
1:12 hii sunt in epulis suis maculae 12. These are spots in your feasts of
convivantes sine timore semet ipsos charity, when they feast with you,
pascentes nubes sine aqua quae a ventis feeding themselves without fear: clouds
circumferuntur arbores autumnales they are without water, carried about
infructuosae bis mortuae eradicatae of winds; trees whose fruit withereth,
without fruit, twice dead, plucked up
                                             by the roots;
1:13 fluctus feri maris despumantes 13. Raging waves of the sea, foaming
suas confusiones sidera errantia quibus out their own shame; wandering stars,

1:14 prophetavit autem et his septimus 14. And Enoch also, the seventh from
ab Adam Enoc dicens ecce venit Dominus Adam, prophesied of these, saying,
in sanctis milibus suis Behold, the Lord cometh with ten
                                             thousands of his saints,
1:15 facere iudicium contra omnes et 15. To execute judgment upon all, and
arguere omnes impios de omnibus to convince all that are ungodly among

                                             sinners have spoken against him.
1:16 hii sunt murmuratores querellosi 16. These are murmurers, complainers,
secundum desideria sua ambulantes et os walking after their own lusts; and
illorum loquitur superba mirantes their mouth speaketh great swelling
personas quaestus causa words, having men's persons in

1:17 vos autem carissimi memores 17. But, beloved, remember ye the
estote verborum quae praedicta sunt ab words which were spoken before of the
apostolis Domini nostri Iesu Christi         apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
1:18 quia dicebant vobis quoniam in 18. How that they told you there

secundum sua desideria ambulantes should walk after their own ungodly
impietatum lusts.
1:19 hii sunt qui segregant animales 19. These be they who separate

superaedificantes vosmet ipsos yourselves on your most holy faith,
sanctissimae vestrae fidei in Spiritu praying in the Holy Ghost,

                                             Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
1:22 et hos quidem arguite iudicatos 22. And of some have compassion,
                                             making a difference:
1:23 illos vero salvate de igne 23. And others save with fear,
