3:1  de cetero fratres orate pro nobis       1.  Finally, brethren, pray for us,
ut sermo Domini currat et clarificetur       that the word of the Lord may have free
sicut et apud vos                            course, and be glorified, even as it is
                                             with you:
3:2  et ut liberemur ab inportunis et        2.  And that we may be delivered from
malis hominibus non enim omnium est          unreasonable and wicked men: for all
fides                                        men have not faith.
3:3  fidelis autem Dominus est qui           3.  But the Lord is faithful, who shall
confirmabit vos et custodiet a malo          stablish you, and keep you from evil.
3:4  confidimus autem de vobis in            4.  And we have confidence in the Lord
Domino quoniam quae praecipimus et           touching you, that ye both do and will
facitis et facietis                          do the things which we command you.
3:5  Dominus autem dirigat corda vestra      5.  And the Lord direct your hearts
in caritate Dei et patientia Christi         into the love of God, and into the
                                             patient waiting for Christ.
3:6  denuntiamus autem vobis fratres in      6.  Now we command you, brethren, in
nomine Domini nostri Iesu Christi ut         the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that
subtrahatis vos ab omni fratre               ye withdraw yourselves from every
ambulante inordinate et non secundum         brother that walketh disorderly, and
traditionem quam acceperunt a nobis          not after the tradition which he
                                             received of us.
3:7  ipsi enim scitis quemadmodum            7.  For yourselves know how ye ought to
oporteat imitari nos quoniam non             follow us: for we behaved not ourselves
inquieti fuimus inter vos                    disorderly among you;
3:8  neque gratis panem manducavimus ab      8.  Neither did we eat any man's bread
aliquo sed in labore et fatigatione          for nought; but wrought with labour and
nocte et die operantes ne quem vestrum       travail night and day, that we might
gravaremus                                   not be chargeable to any of you:
3:9  non quasi non habuerimus                9.  Not because we have not power, but
potestatem sed ut nosmet ipsos formam        to make ourselves an ensample unto you
daremus vobis ad imitandum nos               to follow us.
3:10  nam et cum essemus apud vos hoc        10.  For even when we were with you,
denuntiabamus vobis quoniam si quis non      this we commanded you, that if any
vult operari nec manducet                    would not work, neither should he eat.
3:11  audimus enim inter vos quosdam         11.  For we hear that there are some
ambulare inquiete nihil operantes sed        which walk among you disorderly,
curiose agentes                              working not at all, but are busybodies.
3:12  his autem qui eiusmodi sunt            12.  Now them that are such we command
denuntiamus et obsecramus in Domino          and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Iesu Christo ut cum silentio operantes       that with quietness they work, and eat
suum panem manducent                         their own bread.
3:13  vos autem fratres nolite deficere      13.  But ye, brethren, be not weary in
benefacientes                                well doing.
3:14  quod si quis non oboedit verbo         14.  And if any man obey not our word
nostro per Epistolam hunc notate et non      by this epistle, note that man, and
commisceamini cum illo ut confundatur        have no company with him, that he may
                                             be ashamed.
3:15  et nolite quasi inimicum               15.  Yet count him not as an enemy, but
existimare sed corripite ut fratrem          admonish him as a brother.
3:16  ipse autem Dominus pacis det           16.  Now the Lord of peace himself give
vobis pacem sempiternam in omni loco         you peace always by all means. The Lord
Dominus cum omnibus vobis                    be with you all.
3:17  salutatio mea manu Pauli quod est      17.  The salutation of Paul with mine
signum in omni Epistola ita scribo           own hand, which is the token in every
                                             epistle: so I write.
3:18  gratia Domini nostri Iesu Christi      18.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
cum omnibus vobis amen                       be with you all. Amen.
