3:1  hoc autem scito quod in novissimis      1.  This know also, that in the last
diebus instabunt tempora periculosa          days perilous times shall come.

3:2  et erunt homines se ipsos amantes       2.  For men shall be lovers of their
cupidi elati superbi blasphemi               own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
parentibus inoboedientes ingrati             blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
scelesti                                     unthankful, unholy,

3:3  sine affectione sine pace               3.  Without natural affection,
criminatores incontinentes inmites sine      trucebreakers, false accusers,
benignitate                                  incontinent, fierce, despisers of those
                                             that are good,

3:4  proditores protervi tumidi              4.  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers
voluptatium amatores magis quam Dei          of pleasures more than lovers of God;

3:5  habentes speciem quidem pietatis        5.  Having a form of godliness, but
virtutem autem eius abnegantes et hos        denying the power thereof: from such
devita                                       turn away.

3:6  ex his enim sunt qui penetrant          6.  For of this sort are they which
domos et captivas ducunt mulierculas         creep into houses, and lead captive
oneratas peccatis quae ducuntur variis       silly women laden with sins, led away
desideriis                                   with divers lusts,

3:7  semper discentes et numquam ad          7.  Ever learning, and never able to
scientiam veritatis pervenientes             come to the knowledge of the truth.

3:8  quemadmodum autem Iannes et             8.  Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood
Mambres restiterunt Mosi ita et hii          Moses, so do these also resist the
resistunt veritati homines corrupti          truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate
mente reprobi circa fidem                    concerning the faith.

3:9  sed ultra non proficient                9.  But they shall proceed no further:
insipientia enim eorum manifesta erit        for their folly shall be manifest unto
omnibus sicut et illorum fuit                all men, as their's also was.

3:10  tu autem adsecutus es meam             10.  But thou hast fully known my
doctrinam institutionem propositum           doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
fidem longanimitatem dilectionem             faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
patientiam

3:11  persecutiones passiones qualia         11.  Persecutions, afflictions, which
mihi facta sunt Antiochiae Iconii            came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at
Lystris quales persecutiones sustinui        Lystra; what persecutions I endured:
et ex omnibus me eripuit Dominus             but out of them all the Lord delivered
                                             me.

3:12  et omnes qui volunt pie vivere in      12.  Yea, and all that will live godly
Christo Iesu persecutionem patientur         in Christ Jesus shall suffer
                                             persecution.

3:13  mali autem homines et seductores       13.  But evil men and seducers shall
proficient in peius errantes et in           wax worse and worse, deceiving, and
errorem mittentes                            being deceived.

3:14  tu vero permane in his quae            14.  But continue thou in the things
didicisti et credita sunt tibi sciens a      which thou hast learned and hast been
quo didiceris                                assured of, knowing of whom thou hast
                                             learned them;

3:15  et quia ab infantia sacras             15.  And that from a child thou hast
litteras nosti quae te possint               known the holy scriptures, which are
instruere ad salutem per fidem quae est      able to make thee wise unto salvation
in Christo Iesu                              through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

3:16  omnis scriptura divinitus              16.  All scripture is given by
inspirata et utilis ad docendum ad           inspiration of God, and is profitable
arguendum ad corrigendum ad erudiendum       for doctrine, for reproof, for
in iustitia                                  correction, for instruction in
                                             righteousness:

3:17  ut perfectus sit homo Dei ad omne      17.  That the man of God may be
opus bonum instructus                        perfect, throughly furnished unto all
                                             good works.
