Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by voluntatem Dei et Timotheus frater the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, 1:2 his qui sunt Colossis sanctis et 2. To the saints and faithful brethren fidelibus fratribus in Christo Iesu in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace gratia vobis et pax a Deo Patre nostro be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1:3 gratias agimus Deo et Patri Domini 3. We give thanks to God and the nostri Iesu Christi semper pro vobis Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, orantes praying always for you, 1:4 audientes fidem vestram in Christo 4. Since we heard of your faith in Iesu et dilectionem quam habetis in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye sanctos omnes have to all the saints, 1:5 propter spem quae reposita est 5. For the hope which is laid up for vobis in caelis quam audistis in verbo you in heaven, whereof ye heard before veritatis evangelii in the word of the truth of the gospel; 1:6 quod pervenit ad vos sicut et in 6. Which is come unto you, as it is in universo mundo est et fructificat et all the world; and bringeth forth crescit sicut in vobis ex ea die qua fruit, as it doth also in you, since audistis et cognovistis gratiam Dei in the day ye heard of it, and knew the veritate grace of God in truth: 1:7 sicut didicistis ab Epaphra 7. As ye also learned of Epaphras our carissimo conservo nostro qui est dear fellowservant, who is for you a fidelis pro vobis minister Christi Iesu faithful minister of Christ; 1:8 qui etiam manifestavit nobis 8. Who also declared unto us your love dilectionem vestram in Spiritu in the Spirit. 1:9 ideo et nos ex qua die audivimus 9. For this cause we also, since the non cessamus pro vobis orantes et day we heard it, do not cease to pray postulantes ut impleamini agnitione for you, and to desire that ye might be voluntatis eius in omni sapientia et filled with the knowledge of his will intellectu spiritali in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 1:10 ut ambuletis digne Deo per omnia 10. That ye might walk worthy of the placentes in omni opere bono Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful fructificantes et crescentes in in every good work, and increasing in scientia Dei the knowledge of God; 1:11 in omni virtute confortati 11. Strengthened with all might, secundum potentiam claritatis eius in according to his glorious power, unto omni patientia et longanimitate cum all patience and longsuffering with gaudio joyfulness; 1:12 gratias agentes Patri qui dignos 12. Giving thanks unto the Father, nos fecit in partem sortis sanctorum in which hath made us meet to be partakers lumine of the inheritance of the saints in light: 1:13 qui eripuit nos de potestate 13. Who hath delivered us from the tenebrarum et transtulit in regnum power of darkness, and hath translated Filii dilectionis suae us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 1:14 in quo habemus redemptionem 14. In whom we have redemption through remissionem peccatorum his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 1:15 qui est imago Dei invisibilis 15. Who is the image of the invisible primogenitus omnis creaturae God, the firstborn of every creature: 1:16 quia in ipso condita sunt 16. For by him were all things universa in caelis et in terra created, that are in heaven, and that visibilia et invisibilia sive throni are in earth, visible and invisible, sive dominationes sive principatus sive whether they be thrones, or dominions, potestates omnia per ipsum et in ipso or principalities, or powers: all creata sunt things were created by him, and for him: 1:17 et ipse est ante omnes et omnia 17. And he is before all things, and in ipso constant by him all things consist. 1:18 et ipse est caput corporis 18. And he is the head of the body, ecclesiae qui est principium the church: who is the beginning, the primogenitus ex mortuis ut sit in firstborn from the dead; that in all omnibus ipse primatum tenens things he might have the preeminence. 1:19 quia in ipso conplacuit omnem 19. For it pleased the Father that in plenitudinem habitare him should all fulness dwell; 1:20 et per eum reconciliare omnia in 20. And, having made peace through the ipsum pacificans per sanguinem crucis blood of his cross, by him to reconcile eius sive quae in terris sive quae in all things unto himself; by him, I say, caelis sunt whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 1:21 et vos cum essetis aliquando 21. And you, that were sometime alienati et inimici sensu in operibus alienated and enemies in your mind by malis wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 1:22 nunc autem reconciliavit in 22. In the body of his flesh through corpore carnis eius per mortem exhibere death, to present you holy and vos sanctos et inmaculatos et unblameable and unreproveable in his inreprehensibiles coram ipso sight: 1:23 si tamen permanetis in fide 23. If ye continue in the faith fundati et stabiles et inmobiles ab spe grounded and settled, and be not moved evangelii quod audistis quod away from the hope of the gospel, which praedicatum est in universa creatura ye have heard, and which was preached quae sub caelo est cuius factus sum ego to every creature which is under Paulus minister heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; 1:24 qui nunc gaudeo in passionibus 24. Who now rejoice in my sufferings pro vobis et adimpleo ea quae desunt for you, and fill up that which is passionum Christi in carne mea pro behind of the afflictions of Christ in corpore eius quod est ecclesia my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: 1:25 cuius factus sum ego minister 25. Whereof I am made a minister, secundum dispensationem Dei quae data according to the dispensation of God est mihi in vos ut impleam verbum Dei which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; 1:26 mysterium quod absconditum fuit a 26. Even the mystery which hath been saeculis et generationibus nunc autem hid from ages and from generations, but manifestatum est sanctis eius now is made manifest to his saints: 1:27 quibus voluit Deus notas facere 27. To whom God would make known what divitias gloriae sacramenti huius in is the riches of the glory of this gentibus quod est Christus in vobis mystery among the Gentiles; which is spes gloriae Christ in you, the hope of glory: 1:28 quem nos adnuntiamus corripientes 28. Whom we preach, warning every man, omnem hominem et docentes omnem hominem and teaching every man in all wisdom; in omni sapientia ut exhibeamus omnem that we may present every man perfect hominem perfectum in Christo Iesu in Christ Jesus: 1:29 in quo et laboro certando 29. Whereunto I also labour, striving secundum operationem eius quam operatur according to his working, which worketh in me in virtute in me mightily.Select Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Top of Chapter | |
