3:1  de cetero fratres mei gaudete in        1.  Finally, my brethren, rejoice in
Domino eadem vobis scribere mihi quidem      the Lord. To write the same things to
non pigrum vobis autem necessarium           you, to me indeed is not grievous, but
                                             for you it is safe.

3:2  videte canes videte malos               2.  Beware of dogs, beware of evil
operarios videte concisionem                 workers, beware of the concision.

3:3  nos enim sumus circumcisio qui          3.  For we are the circumcision, which
spiritu Deo servimus et gloriamur in         worship God in the spirit, and rejoice
Christo Iesu et non in carne fiduciam        in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence
habentes                                     in the flesh.

3:4  quamquam ego habeam confidentiam        4.  Though I might also have confidence
et in carne si quis alius videtur            in the flesh. If any other man thinketh
confidere in carne ego magis                 that he hath whereof he might trust in
                                             the flesh, I more:

3:5  circumcisus octava die ex genere        5.  Circumcised the eighth day, of the
Israhel de tribu Beniamin Hebraeus ex        stock of Israel, of the tribe of
Hebraeis secundum legem Pharisaeus           Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as
                                             touching the law, a Pharisee;

3:6  secundum aemulationem persequens        6.  Concerning zeal, persecuting the

in lege est conversatus sine querella        which is in the law, blameless.

3:7  sed quae mihi fuerunt lucra haec        7.  But what things were gain to me,
arbitratus sum propter Christum              those I counted loss for Christ.

3:8  verumtamen existimo omnia               8.  Yea doubtless, and I count all
detrimentum esse propter eminentem           things but loss for the excellency of
scientiam Iesu Christi Domini mei            the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord:
propter quem omnia detrimentum feci et       for whom I have suffered the loss of
arbitror ut stercora ut Christum lucri       all things, and do count them but dung,
faciam                                       that I may win Christ,

3:9  et inveniar in illo non habens          9.  And be found in him, not having
meam iustitiam quae ex lege est sed          mine own righteousness, which is of the
illam quae ex fide est Christi quae ex       law, but that which is through the
Deo est iustitia in fide                     faith of Christ, the righteousness
                                             which is of God by faith:

3:10  ad agnoscendum illum et virtutem       10.  That I may know him, and the power
resurrectionis eius et societatem            of his resurrection, and the fellowship
passionum illius configuratus morti eius     of his sufferings, being made
                                             conformable unto his death;

3:11  si quo modo occurram ad                11.  If by any means I might attain
resurrectionem quae est ex mortuis           unto the resurrection of the dead.

3:12  non quod iam acceperim aut iam         12.  Not as though I had already
perfectus sim sequor autem si                attained, either were already perfect:
conprehendam in quo et conprehensus sum      but I follow after, if that I may
a Christo Iesu                               apprehend that for which also I am
                                             apprehended of Christ Jesus.

3:13  fratres ego me non arbitror            13.  Brethren, I count not myself to
conprehendisse unum autem quae quidem        have apprehended: but this one thing I
retro sunt obliviscens ad ea vero quae       do, forgetting those things which are
sunt in priora extendens me                  behind, and reaching forth unto those
                                             things which are before,

3:14  ad destinatum persequor ad             14.  I press toward the mark for the
bravium supernae vocationis Dei in           prize of the high calling of God in
Christo Iesu                                 Christ Jesus.

3:15  quicumque ergo perfecti hoc            15.  Let us therefore, as many as be
sentiamus et si quid aliter sapitis et       perfect, be thus minded: and if in any
hoc vobis Deus revelabit                     thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall
                                             reveal even this unto you.

3:16  verumtamen ad quod pervenimus ut       16.  Nevertheless, whereto we have
idem sapiamus et in eadem permaneamus        already attained, let us walk by the
regula                                       same rule, let us mind the same thing.

3:17  imitatores mei estote fratres et       17.  Brethren, be followers together of
observate eos qui ita ambulant sicut         me, and mark them which walk so as ye
habetis formam nos                           have us for an ensample.

3:18  multi enim ambulant quos saepe         18.  (For many walk, of whom I have
dicebam vobis nunc autem et flens dico       told you often, and now tell you even
inimicos crucis Christi                      weeping, that they are the enemies of
                                             the cross of Christ:

3:19  quorum finis interitus quorum          19.  Whose end is destruction, whose
deus venter et gloria in confusione          God is their belly, and whose glory is
ipsorum qui terrena sapiunt                  in their shame, who mind earthly
                                             things.)

3:20  nostra autem conversatio in            20.  For our conversation is in heaven;
caelis est unde etiam salvatorem             from whence also we look for the
expectamus Dominum Iesum Christum            Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

3:21  qui reformabit corpus humilitatis      21.  Who shall change our vile body,
nostrae configuratum corpori claritatis      that it may be fashioned like unto his
suae secundum operationem qua possit         glorious body, according to the working
etiam subicere sibi omnia                    whereby he is able even to subdue all
                                             things unto himself.
